Why 'Green Travel'

The travel industry was one of the first industries to have a 'green' component. Many people in the industry are looking to reduce costs and expenses and because of management systems that increased effectiveness and efficiency industry management found they could add to the company profits and not lose customer satisfaction, in fact they found it was increased. My own experience has been similar but I saw the 'value' of 'greening' my family business through the perspective of the environment. Our business is contingent upon the quality of the environment surrounding us and therefore anything and everything we could do to improve upon the quality of the environment now had a value of some kind. We learned an environmental management system that works in all areas of our company from the CEO to the newest staff person and even extends to the companies and people our business interacts with such as vendors and customers. The decline in spending the last 12 months has hurt our business but not as much as it could have because we have gotten very good at 'valuing' what we have and not having to spend money to buy things when we can use what we have again and again. Do you find this valuable?
